Announcing the Phoenix Species Project

A partnership between Re:wild and the Bezos Earth Fund, the Phoenix Species Fund is $200 million dedicated to the recovery of 100 of the most endangered species in the world. Five of these species are located in Appalachia: the Hickory Nut Gorge green salamander, the Appalachian Elktoe mussel, the Bog turtle, the Vermilion darter, and the Red wolf. Appalachia Rising is thrilled to assist Re:wild with the distribution of these funds to Appalachia Rising partners to help make measurable progress towards bringing these species back from the brink.

You can read about it in this New York Times feature, or check out the project website.
